The Big Move to Spain

 One long week

This past week was packed full of interesting events. So I left of with the old man inviting me out for coffee, right? That was Monday I think. Tuesday and Wednesday are completely blurred in my head. Iīm sure the lesson I taught went well and I did a lot of work. Umm... hmmm. Oh I had a heated debate with a friend of mine about girls who go out to the clubs, Obama and stereotypes and President Bush. I was holding onto an emtpy water bottle and totally mutalated it with my hands during the argument. My friend and Jose were both shocked at how riled up I was. They were like... youīre sooo calm and relaxed itīs surprising how agitated you can get. lol. If they only knew.
Thursday was the soccer game. Spain played against Russia in the semifinal for soccer. We won!!!!!! Very very exiciting. People were honking the car horns still even after more than an hour of the game finishing. They are crazy for soccer here. Friday I took my grammar test (got a A!!!!) easy as pie. Did a ton of work to try to lessen it for this week. Went out with Emma, Lili and Stephen from the TEFL program on Friday night. We went to a really really chill bar in a park across from the University. Itīs decorated in Thai decor. We were able to sit on a bed and drink tinto de verano. Soooo relaxing. We had a really really great time. Then we went to the river to see Jose and them. Hung out for a bit and then I went to Joses (it was at 3.30 at that point) and the other three went to another place (they ended up going home at 6 am and just jumped on a bus to go to the beach). Jose and I went to bed since we had t get up at 8 am to catch a bus for the beach.
So Saturday morning we went to the beach in Huelva (1.5 hours away). It was madness getting on the bus and then transfering.... old ladies and mothers and boys all shoving each other and pushing to get onto the buses. sooo bad. Then we get to the hotel and had to wait almost 4 hours for our room to be ready. 4 hours!!! We got lunch in the restuarant... it was pretty good. So yea after two nights of no sleep we were really tired and took a siesta 4-7 pm. We then went to the beach for a bit and then out for dinner and a movie. Early to bed around 1 am. We were up at 8 am. Grabbed breakfast and headed out to the beach again. Laid out... it was hot... then checked out and came back to Sevilla. We saw another movie.... it was SOOOOOOOO FUNNY. Oh my god.... Itīs called Getting Over Sarah Marshall. Hysterically funny. We were DYING the entire time. (iīm sure I missed some funny lines since it was in spanish and all) but oh man it was sooo good. Highly reccommended. (the other one was My girlfriendīs Wedding... it was okay). Sooooooo, we had a light snack and then chilled until the Final game started. Spain v. Germany. INTENSE. We were nervous. There was a bunch of us at Joseīs watching it. We won too!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was soooooo exciting, first time in 24 years to win. sooooooo good. People went CRAZY.
Then today classes went well. Only 4 days left at TEFL. I have two more lessons to give, 2 more projects to turn in and two interviews to do before I can pass the course. Geeez. Plus I have to pack up somethings for Jose to save while Iīm in the States since everything wonīt fit in my suitcases. AND I have to visit the hotel too to say good bye. Lots to do and itīs freaking HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

 Hot weekend

Woah, it was definitely toasty this weekend. Over a hundred each day. Friday was nice and relaxing. I met up with the elderly man who wants me to help him with his English. It was cute. My rate is 10 euros an hour (as of now). Saturday flew by! Letīs see. Got breakfast and saw Sex in the City. It was really really good. Made me cry and miss my girlfriends back home. Had smoothies (I had been craving smoothies for like 5 days). I took a siesta and showered again because it was just so hot and I was sticky and gross. Met up with that guy, did some work and watched Bewitched. Sunday Jose and I had breakfast and went for a bike ride at 12.30 in the afternoon. Ya know when it was 98 degrees out... We had a bite to eat and bought fruit so we can make our own smoothies (Austin and Mike thought the smoothies were a good idea and they are going to be making them now too). So yeah I brought smoothies to their apartment. The Spain-Italy game was on. The semi finals!!! It was soooooo intense. Oh man I was definitely into it. Cheering and whatnot. We all had Chinese while we watched (sooo tastey!). Then I watched a few movies and hung out. Today is an easy day at class (oh.... an old man was talking to me on the bus this morning and invited me for a cup of coffee..... why do old men here adore me?????? I must give off some old man pheramone or something.... Iīd rather they be hot young guys.... but old well!)
Tomorrow through Friday will be hectic with 3 lessons and big projects to do. But I like the work so itīs okay. I want to go running again too some time. This upcoming weekend we are going to the beach!!! Yay! Iīll be nice and tan for when I come home.

 Another week over!

How is it already Friday????????
This week flew by. Saw Indiana Jones on Tuesday night and it was pretty cheesy. Didnīt really like it (granted it was in Spanish so I had to listen to the voiceovers and not the real voices). That was Tuesday night (after I taught a really good lesson) and then Wednesday I went for a run! Yes, believe it or not I did! I ran almost 2 miles in 16 mins (which is quite impressive I think) And i didnīt pass out or anything. I ran 16 in one direction and then took the bus to go back to my aparment since I didnīt want to over do it my first time out and ya know hurt myself. (my legs are still a bit sore today). Yesterday my lesson went well. It was my last one for the upper intermediate group and they learned a lot of new phrases. I took on a bit of a grammar lesson and they liked it. Then Jose cooked me a Spanish omlette (tortilla de patatas... a.k.a. potato omlette) and we watched the Portugal/Germany Eurocup game. Yeah... so the EuroCup is HUGE. All weekend we watched it at the kiosk and thereīs always gatherings of guys in the apartment to see the games. Spain plays on Sunday so there will be a BIIIIG gahering to watch it at the kiosko or at the apartment(on the really big 42 inch TV). Umm umm umm.... I am still really liking my TEFL course. It is a lot of fun and I like Linguistic stuff so it is right up my alley. Fridayīs are easy days here at the course. We are technically done with classes (which is good since the past week it has been 9-10 hours a day here) so now I just have to prep for next week..... which is a lot of work. But not too bad. I hope to go on another bike ride with Jose and meet up with some friends from work and the course for drinks. Next weekend I might be going to the beach so I want to do as much as I can this weekend to cut my work down for next weekend.
Thatīs about it. Iīve seen my roommates more and have talked to them a bunch more too. They are really sweet.

 Teaching

First of all, have I mentioned how this past week and weekend it has been over 100 degrees? Yeah, when we took our bikeride.... definitely about 102 in the sun. But it didnīt feel that hot since there was a breeze. So my lesson yesterday went really well. The students really got into the lesson and had a good time and they learned a ton of new words. They really liked my activities and everything. So that was good. For my course we are doing more grammar now.... itīs going okay since Iīm pretty decent with it already (thankfully...) Last night after the course three of the other students from the course and I went out to eat. I took them to Coloniales (the BEST place for tapas in Sevilla). They all loooooved the food. We had a really great time, it was good to relax (not like i didnīt relax all weekend.... but hey itīs spain). Turns out the others are all 25 and 26... they all thought I was 25 or 26 too... ha. When I told them I was 22 they were shocked. They didnīt believe I was that young.
Oh, little adventure last night too. I visited Jose and Ismael at the river and I was planning on getting the last bus to take me home since from the river its a solid 40 mins walking. Well I get on the bus and put in my bus card and then the grumpy old bus driver says that the last stop is at the Prado (aka still 35 mins from my apartment). So I ask him why he didnīt say that before I put in my card because I wouldīve not lost a trip since it was only two stops away that we were going. And I asked him why he was stopping there since he was supposed to do an entire loop. blah blah blah i get off at the Prado. Luckily this nice old man was talking to me and telling me what I could do to get to where I live. So he accompanied me onto another bus and then again to another bus all just so I could get to a bus stop that was 5 mins away from my apartment. That was really nice of him and he paid for my bus fares. We were talking spanish the whole time and it went really well and he actually wants me to help him with his english because he knows the words but not how to say them.. noly write them. So we exchanged numbers and we are going to get together in a cafe sometime to chat in English so he can practice.
I got home 50 mins after I hopped on the first bus........
Oh well... the life of sevilla!! I woke up early today too so i could get here and get all caught up on my work. We just always havea ton to do. I teach today, meet with a student tomorrow and then teach Thursday. Tonight Iīm going to see Indiana Jones too!!!!

 Good Weekend

So I finished my 2000 word analytical essay... however I have to print it out and that is proving to be difficult..... argh. Today was a really great day. I had a good breakfast with Jose and then we went bike riding for an hour and a half around a park and along the river and through a part of the city. It was nice. I got a little bit burned on the tops of my shoulders but that was it. Siested and relaxed. Hung out with Mike and Austin... they are hysterical. They were working on their Sesame Street charactersīimpressions. I watched them all play a little bit of a racing X box game. We had lunch at some point and I finished my essay. I still have a bunch to prepare for tomorrowīs lesson but thatīs okay.........
Not too much else happening. Trying to figure out things for this summer and next year....
